At RSVP we offer many different volunteer opportunities. Take a look and let us know what programs interest you.
The Heart To Heart Program: Volunteers read intergenerational books to over 2,100 students at Aurora, Central, Dillsboro, Lawrenceburg Primary,. Manchester & Moores Hill Elementary Schools. This event is an annual program that is held in February the week of Valentine’s Day.
The Pen Pal program: Volunteers exchange letters with students at Aurora, Central, Dillsboro, North Dearborn & Rising Sun Elementary schools all during the school year. The letters from the students come into the RSVP office a volunteer compiles the letters mails them to the RSVP volunteer. The volunteer answers the letter and sends it back to the office on or before the date stated the letters are then delivered to the schools. In May after sharing their thoughts and ideas all year the RSVP Volunteers and the students meet at a picnic. Putting a face with a name.
The Halloween Sensation: is an annual event on the Thursday before Halloween, this year it will be held on October 30th 6:00 - 8:00 at the firehouse in Lawrenceburg on Tate Street. It is a Fun/Educational event, hayrides goblins, games, prizes, food, and booths set up full of educational material from Dearborn Co. Solid Waste, Sheriff, Police Dept. 911 Communications, Emergency Management, Firemen, 4-H, Lawrenceburg Library Bookmobile, Lawrenceburg K-9, Baby Basket, Big Brother Big Sister, and the Dearborn County Hospital, educational games and information is handed out at each of these booths. Lawrenceburg Civil City and M&N Enterprises were sponsors of these event and it is made possible through a grant from The City of Lawrenceburg Dearborn Community Foundation Youth Grant.
We Care Project: Recently RSVP partnered with this project packing boxes each month to be sent to troops overseas. The boxes contain snacks, kool aid, sanitizing wipes, t-shirts, socks, games, magazines, Etc. In December for Christmas boxes are packed with Christmas items and another box is sent with cookies, fudge and Christmas candy.
Senior Social in July nursing home residents have a special day out with music, dancing, food, clowns, balloons, door prizes, individual pictures and the king and queen drawing. |
